What Shoes and Jewellery to Wear With a Cream Color Dress
How to accessorize a cream color dress?

The color cream has always been synonymous with elegance, refinement and a touch of class. Exuding a sophisticated style whether you are wearing it short or long, a cream color dress can be seen as a palette from which you can add a dash of color according to the way you feel or the requirements of the outfit, or keep it simple, suave and toned down to a minimum. When it comes to accessorizing your outfit with shoes and jewelry, there are a few simple rules to follow to avoid classic fashion faux pas.

Fashion Rule – No matching! Ever!

To avoid looking insipid and washed out, never try and match everything, especially when wearing cream. A beautiful cream dress – whether it is a short, cap-sleeve or long, empire-line, works well with a dash of color in the shoes, or accessories or both.

Matching shoes and accessories with cream color dress

1. Shoes to pair with cream color dress- Turn heads with a pair of ‘statement’ shoes – in other words, a brightly colored pair of shoes that will offset the rich cream of your dress and make a wonderful statement. Striking colors such as fuchsia pink, fire-engine red or an azure blue will look stunning against the pale backdrop of the cream and will give the outfit an edgy look.

2. Matching jewelry with cream dress- The same goes for jewelry – a brightly colored necklace, bangles, or earrings can add jest to a plain cream dress – just remember the rule of thumb when it comes to jewelry – a big statement necklace is never paired with big statement earrings – a bold necklace with subtle earrings, or none at all.

Expert Tip! When going for pink, always go for brighter pinks, as pale pinks can create a washed out look when paired with cream – unless you are a bridesmaid.

3. Go for Contrasting Combos- Pairing fabrics and footwear is just as important as choosing the right color of shoe. A plain, non-patterned dress can afford a detailed or bright shoe, and vice versa – a detailed, patterned dress wants a simple, understated shoe. If you are planning to wear a cream dress in satin, try a sexy red, peep-toe shoe with bow detail, which will give life to the dress. If you are going for a patterned or embellished cream dress, go with a simple, more modest shoe color, like a basic black or blue leather sandal.

Expert Tip! Wear heels with short dresses to accentuate the shape of your lower leg, while flats or pumps work better with long dresses.

4. Follow the Trends- Colors and looks tend to change with the seasons, so watch the latest trends, and choose a color that you like to wear. It is important to make sure you always wear something that suits you rather than following trends because fashion dictates it – bright yellow might not be the best color for your complexion.

Expert Tip! If you are not an adventurous fashionista, go for good old black. Black shoes and accessories work beautifully with cream to create a classic, elegant look.
