How to Make a Deep Cleansing Facial Mask

How to make a deep cleansing facial mask Step by step method to make a cleansing face mask

Using a deep cleansing facial mask on your face is important if you have oily skin, which can lead to enlarged pores. An excess production of sebum (skin oil) can lead to pores becoming blocked with this oil and when trapped with dead skin, which creates a plug on top of the oil, this form blackheads. If blackheads are left, they can stretch the skin around the pore, widening it to a point that it cannot shrink back to its original size, causing enlarged pores. While there are no effective remedies available to ‘cure’ enlarged pores, however, deep cleansing facial masks can go a long way in preventing the build-up of excess oil, blackheads and dead skin. Note though, that a deep cleansing facial mask should only be used once or twice a week, as it is quite an evasive process and can cause the skin to become dry.

There are a number of excellent deep cleansing facial mask products on the market, but there are easy ways to make your own mask at home with ingredients from your fridge that work just as well.

How to make a home made face mask:

Eggs and Lemons

Things you need:

  • Egg white
  • Teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Honey

Beat the egg white and lemon juice together until well mixed. The lemon juice acts as an astringent on your skin and helps shrink your pores. But it can be quite harsh also, so if you have sensitive skin, dilute the acidic nature of lemon juice by mixing some water into it. Now apply the mixture onto your face. Allow the mixture to dry, which will cause a tight, pulling sensation on your skin. Once dry, gently remove the mask with some warm water and your skin will feel refreshed and new!

Expert tip! If you have blemishes, add a teaspoon of honey to the above mixture, as this is an excellent natural remedy for healing marks and scars.

Exfoliating Banana Mask

Things you need:

  • Banana
  • Half Apple
  • Cup of Oatmeal
  • Teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon
  • Four teaspoons of honey

Another excellent way of removing excess oil and dead skin cells is to exfoliate your skin with a deep cleansing facial mask. Mix all the ingredients together in a food blender until the mixture is a smooth paste. Apply this paste to your skin, allow to dry and gently remove with warm water.

Expert tip! If you want to close your pores even more after the mask, rub an ice cube over your face after removing the mask, which will close your pores even tighter.
